Veronica Mars embroidery

Man, I can't get enough of embroidery hoops at the moment. It is like, I finally worked out how to do them properly and now I can do nothing else. Well, I have one more on the go, which you might see this weekend, but then I do have to focus my attention on hats next week.

I've been wanting to do a Veronica Mars embroidery at least since the Kickstarter thing and last night I found myself with some spare time and a mini embroidery hoop. I'd really like to do a Logan quote (maybe the epic love one? that scene slays me every time) but the hoop was only tiny, so here's a favourite Wallace one liner. Sadly, too small for a unicorn - I wanted to get both bitch and marshmallow, so I used some twee material bought as offcuts for just such an occasion.

Anyway, the quote seemed appropriate, as there have been a few things happening recently that are so squeeworthy, I do have to "be cool", not only the VM Kickstarter.

And to give you an idea of size...

R2D2 herb planter

I really can't think of anything witty or interesting to say about this, so here, brought to you on my new red and silver samsung laptop, is an R2D2 herb planter.

Not the thyme you are looking for...

Rolf Harris embroidery hoop

Day six of life without a laptop. Last night was pretty good actually, I whacked on some Keltrix and sat outside embroidering in the sun. The Keltrix was a wise move as I've been ODing on Ella Fitzgerald and Patsy Cline and was starting to feel far too soulsome and jazzfull.

Embroidered Rolf Harris hoop. Just 'cos.

My airing cupboard door is starting to look kinda weird.

Can you tell what it is yet? Possibly the neatest underside I have ever accomplished.

A couple of keyrings for transport

I made a little bike for Peter as a housewarming. Fun fact, this was about the 5th attempt at making this on account of the fact that apparently I don't really know what a bike looks like. In the end I took a photo of a painted bike on the cycleway.

Andy asked me to make a camper van and after many aborted attempts I made something that was a bit like a misshapen cousin of a camper van. Apparently transport keyrings simply stump me. Anyway, I have since made this feltie (rather than a plush, in other words more 2d than 3d) which is ... better than before.

Tom the Troll

Named after a bloke that someone knew that looked a bit like him, Tom the Troll just kept getting bigger and bigger, and now at a rather hideous 1.6 feet tall, I am not sure quite what to do with him!

The reason behind the existence of Tom is long and convoluted but the short version is that I wanted to try making something with a wire armature to support the clay face. I think in future I will steer clear of any 'soft sculptures' that need me to make a face, his lips freak me out.

And as I write this I can both see him in front of me *and* full size a foot away from me. I hope he is a benevolent troll...
 Just chilling in the garden.

Thousand yard stare. Trolls have a lot on their plate, they can't always be paying attention to you, you know.

Portal tissues, minion and hamster keyrings and some whimsical frippery of the most fripperous order

A Portal companion cube tissue box cover.
For no tissue, toilet paper or general absorbancy-related product in my house shall be on show

I will hold my hands up to being a bit slap dash when it comes to sewing, edges meet up 'close enough' and the concerpt of seam allowance is alien to me. But to make sure I got this totally square and neat I measured everything and even used large numbers of pins. Little bit proud.

A cute little hamster. Just because

This little fella didn't work out right. I need to make the yellow part larger. I don't have much yellow fleece left (but plenty for this) so I was scrimping - talk about your false economies!

Sometimes, I just like to make fig leaves. Actually, this was a request, and there was sort-of logic behind it. I've spent a lot of time trying to work out which angle the fig should be at after someone said it should be stalk pointing upwards (no giggling at the back) but there appears to be no strong leaning towards that in art.

Dang I should dust my mirror.

On the under side.

Happy zombie bunny weekend!

I'm not going to say that I definitely have been watching too much walking dead, but the other day I walked past a lady shuffling along in those stupid ugg boots, dragging her feet along the pavement and I wanted to shoot her in the back of the head.

Anyway, what says happy easter like a zombie bunny bearing chocolate?

Bitten off ear and a bone for a paw..

Braaains. And a cotton-fluff tail
